Get ready for the First Annual International Smoke-Free Cookout Day! (Earth, Northern Hemisphere) It's the mid-summer Saturday, and with any luck many of us in the northern hemisphere will have good cooking weather, so let's pack up our cookers and take them to parks or picnic areas or town squares on that day and show people that they can cook without smoke and without heating up their kitchens or adding to their energy bills. Solar cooking is an idea whose time has come, so let's fire up cookers where people can see them, all around the world, and show them that it's fun to cook with sun!
People can decide on the local level if they want to have some flyers with information and resources to hand out, or cook something that people can sample, or even include a workshop. Those who live in communities with others who cook with sun might want to suggest a particular park. If people do turn it into more of an event at the local level, they might want to notify the local press, but even if all you do is cook in a park and chat with the people who will invariably ask about it, you'll have done a lot for solar cooking. If each of us who takes part in the Cookout attracts even one new suncooker to our ranks, think how many people we will add to our circle!
Let's light up the world with solar cookers on the 2nd of August! Spread the word! (Especially if you can spread the word in other languages!)
